I CAN perform the swimming tasks shown on the cards
A child is able to independently perform the swimming task shown on a card and then complete another card until there are no more cards left.
The task should be completed in an area where the children are able to perform the required tasks. This requires a suitable depth of water (swimming pool). Depending on their ability level, the cards can be placed face down on the floor, so that the children first have to dive down to pick one up and then solve the task depicted on it.
UNO Sports cards are required.
The space should be large enough for the children to perform the propulsion tasks (approx. 10 metres) and for several children to work side by side. Some children need more space with the rotation
The task can be performed alone, in pairs or in a group.
The cards are shuffled and placed face down on the edge of the pool. The children then need enough space to complete the tasks
The duration of the activity varies depending on how many cards are laid out and how many children take part in the task.
The task can mainly be carried out in the main part of the lesson
The children should be able to swim short distances on their belly and on their back. They must be able to master the swimming basics of breathing and diving. The basics of floating, treading water and rotating are also required. However, these can also be trained further through the task.
For this task, a set of UNO sports cards is placed face down on the edge of a pool. Blue, green, red and yellow cards are required. These colours are shown on a laminated sheet with the cards. The swimming task is explained below. Instead of the UNO number in the centre of the card, there is a picture which indicates the swimming task.
The children then turn over a card. Depending on which card they have drawn, they must complete the corresponding task. They then draw a new card. The game ends when all the cards have been turned over.
Variation: The cards can also be placed at the bottom of the pool. The children then have to dive down and pick up a card. They place it on the edge of the pool and complete the required task
