Environment/Space/Equipment

One lane (12.5 meters)

Group management

In pairs. The teacher will be out of the pool.

Time/Duration/Schedule

5 minutes

Pre-requisites

Be able to swim, in freestyle, 2x12.5 meters

Description

Organization: Students are paired into teams of two swimmers, balanced by skill level. Each team performs a freestyle relay over 2 × 12.5 meters. The exchange between swimmers occurs when the first swimmer touches the pool wall. Timing is recorded, and if any swimmer starts before their teammate touches the wall, the team receives a symbolic penalty of 5 seconds added to their total time.

Adaptations:

For younger students or those with less technical mastery, shorter distances can be used.

For older students or those with greater mastery, longer distances may be performed.

Teacher’s role: Monitor ethical behavior and positively reinforce attitudes such as patience, focus, supporting teammates, and the courage to admit mistakes.
