Goal

I CAN swim using a mix of different swimming techniques
I DO combine different arm and leg movements while moving through the water.

Success criteria

Children are able to coordinate at least two swimming styles effectively in one swim (e.g. crawl arms with breaststroke kick) across a defined distance. 

Environment/Space/Equipment

Swimming pool (shallow or deep depending on level). No equipment needed. Lanes or open space. 

Group management

Individual or small groups swim side by side. Instructor observes by the poolside.

Time/Duration/Schedule

5-15 minutes 
Suitable for the main part of the lesson

Pre-requisite

Basic proficiency in at least two swim strokes (e.g., crawl and breaststroke). 

Description

Children swim across the pool combining different strokes. e.g freestyle with breaststroke arms legs, backstroke with dolphin kicks, breaststroke arms with freestyle kick. Focus is on coordination and rhythm.


Progression: Add timing, rhythm drills, or increase length.
