I CAN use my arms to feel water movement near my shoulders.
I DO perform “insweep” sculling with precision.
Child maintains a stable position and uses symmetrical sculling at shoulder level.
Pool (any depth depending on skill). No equipment. Space for the child to move, 5-25 meters.
Individual or in lanes (group). The instructor gives corrections and feedback from the pool deck.
5–15 minutes. Mid-lesson as a technical drill.
Ability to maintain a streamlined body position in the water and comfortable with water in the face and (being in deep water).
From a floating/streamlined position on the front or back, with the arms placed near the shoulders with elbows slightly bent, the underarms/hands scull sideways with palms opened. Focus is on “insweep” of stroke.
Progression: Add kick, include breathing coordination, vary sculling speed or distance or resistive tempo.
