Goal

I know how to adapt my speed and direction so that I don´t lose the group.
I feel responsible for my teammates and confident when working together.

Success criteria

The team can move together. The students respect each other’s time and space, without pushing or pulling. The student leader visually checks that the group is organized and coordinated and adjusts the speed or pauses if necessary. At the end of the activity, the students express confidence, a sense of belonging, and recognition of their responsibility within the team.

Environment/Space/Equipment

Deep water pool.
A space approximately 10 meters long and 3 to 4 meters wide.
Equipment: Belt and various floating objects.

Group management

Groups of 3.
The role of the leader alternates.
The teacher is outside the water.
If there are signs of discomfort or withdrawal, the teacher will intervene immediately to reorganize the group and ensure that everyone remains safe.

Time/Duration/Schedule

5 to 15 minutes main part of the lesson

Pre-requesite

Being able to move around autonomously.
Control breathing.

Description

Divide the students into groups of 4, where one is the leader and the others are the little fish that must follow the leader's rhythm and direction. The leader swims in front, guiding the group, avoiding obstacles. The roles alternate every 3 minutes.
Increase the complexity by including more obstacles or increasing speed.
Create a fun narrative as “ocean explorers” and encourage healthy competition.
The exercise starts at the edge of the pool and ends approximately after 10 meters.
