I CAN dive and perform the task at the bottom of the pool, using both underwater orientation and visual information.
I KNOW how to assess the depth to which I can dive.
I FEEL ready to assess the probability of successfully diving to a given depth.
Help as many fish as possible to return to houses of the same colour by diving only twice.
Swimming pool or open water (swim buoy for safety) with different depths available.
Sinking toys to make pairs of the same colors, eg. fishes and circles.
The task is performed in a group. Instructor outside or inside the pool.
For safety reasons, direct supervision by a lifeguard is required.
5-15 minutes.
Submerge the head.
The child's task is to help as many fish as possible return home. Pairs of coloured circles (houses) are located at the bottom of a pool of varying depths, with each circle corresponding to a fish.
The equipment is located in four areas at different depths. The deeper the water, the more pairs there are to match.
Children can only dive twice, so they must decide which two fish colonies to choose based on their knowledge of their diving skills.
Should they take a risk by choosing the larger group to earn a high score in one go, even though they will have to dive deeper in one breath? Or should they choose the smaller group and help fewer fish?
