Goal

I CAN stay balanced while floating horizontally with a floating device.
I DO lie still on the water using passive buoyancy.

Success criteria

The child maintains a horizontal position with calm breathing and no sinking or excessive movement. 

Environment/Space/Equipment

Shallow pool, one floating board per child.

Group management

Single or small group. Instructor nearby to assist. Ensure calm environment for focus.

Time/Duration/Schedule

1–5 minutes. Use at beginning or mid-lesson for focus.

Pre-requisite

Comfortable lying flat in water. Comfortable getting water in face. Basic balance.

Description

Child lies flat on a floating board (face-up or face-down) with minimal movement. The goal is to sense the body’s balance and stay still.
 
Progression: Try without the board or reduce board size gradually.
